When are black raspberries ready to pick? By the 4th of July!
I once again, donned my long pants and long sleeved shirt and headed down the hill. It took over 2 hours to pick just over 2 1/2 quarts. With a jar of fruit pectin and a bowl of black raspberries, this time, I cooked up a batch of jam….
Jammin’ it up, smashin it up on 4th of July weekend…
A test batch I made first ….
…. after adding the pectin to the fruit, I wait for it to boil…..
… and then add the sugar ….. stir and boil some more, boiling so hard it won’t stir down… then boil for 1 minute more …
A watched pot never boils …. sigh ….
… jars are washed and ready and waiting …. for the big dipper ….
Keeping the jars close to that hot pot ….
First jar pours smoothly, filling up to within 1/2 inch to start with …
Nearly done …. I filled 6 jars!
Waiting to cool and set the jam …..
